On the evening of April 25, 2025, deputies responded to a shooting at an apartment complex on La Glorieta in Mission Viejo and found 39-year-old resident Miguel Joaquin Mata with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders transported Mata to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Investigators established a perimeter and located a 55-year-old Mission Viejo resident, Sean Jeffery Williams, in close proximity to Mata’s residence. Authorities have not disclosed any known relationship between the two or a motive. After witness interviews and a crime-scene examination, investigators arrested Williams on suspicion of homicide and booked him into the Orange County Jail. Officials say the investigation is ongoing and have asked anyone with information to come forward.

This shooting is reported as the second deadly incident at a Mission Viejo apartment complex in recent weeks. Does anyone in Mission Viejo have information about the La Glorieta complex or events that evening?
