A fatal shooting in Macon’s Freedom Park left 39-year-old Jarvis Kentral Curtis dead late on the night of May 13, 2025. Deputies from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office responded just after 11:30 p.m. to the 3300 block of Roff Avenue where a person was reported down by the lake; Curtis was found with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Curtis was a father who enjoyed the outdoors and regularly fished at the park. He was described by his companion, Lakeshia Faulk, as a quiet, nontroublesome man. The sheriff’s office opened a homicide investigation and crime-scene units processed the area for evidence. As of initial reports, no suspect has been identified and no arrests have been made.
Anyone who was in or around Freedom Park that night or who has information about what happened is urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers.
