Alyson Amanda Jones, 48, was found dead on April 30, 2025, in the bathroom of a residence on Pine Circle in unincorporated Panama City. She had a single gunshot wound and the Bay County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation and suspected foul play.

Investigators identified 45-year-old Luke Kirkland as the primary suspect. Authorities say Kirkland, who was known to Jones, shot her after an argument at his residence, then wrapped her body in linens. The firearm believed to have been used was recovered from the home of one of Kirkland’s relatives.

Kirkland was arrested and charged with first-degree homicide and possession of a firearm as a felon; he was booked into the Bay County jail. The Sheriff’s Office called the death an isolated incident and said there was no ongoing threat to the public. If anyone knew Jones or has information about her death, please come forward to investigators.
