Oscar Cuevas, a 61-year-old Hispanic man, was found unconscious and not breathing on the night of April 3, 2025, in a commercial parking lot on the 1700 block of Berryessa Road in San Jose, California. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead; medical personnel determined he had been shot at least once. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office confirmed his identity and notified his next of kin.

The San Jose Police Department opened a homicide investigation and identified a vehicle they suspected was involved. A search warrant was served at the address linked to that vehicle, and on April 4, 2025, 39-year-old Jairo Ortiz of San Jose was arrested at the residence and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of homicide, held without bail. This was the seventh homicide reported in San Jose in 2025.

Did anyone in the area see activity in the parking lot or notice the vehicle before or after the shooting?
