Amon Kevone Harvey, 21, was shot inside a home in the 100 block of Glory Court in Americus, Georgia, in the early morning hours of April 16, 2025. Officers found him with apparent gunshot wounds just before 1:00 a.m. He received first aid at the scene, was taken to Phoebe Sumter Regional Medical Center and later airlifted to a trauma center in Macon, where he died from his injuries.
Investigators identified 20-year-old Kentravious Lemond Holmes of Americus as a suspect and obtained a warrant charging him with Felony Murder and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony. Holmes was arrested and booked into the Sumter County Jail. The motive and any relationship between Harvey and Holmes have not been released.
Holmes escaped from the Sumter County Jail on February 8, 2026, with another inmate, Rickey Martin, but both were recaptured on February 12, 2026, at a residence on Montgomery Street in Americus and returned to custody. Does anyone in Americus have information about Harvey, his last movements on April 16, 2025, or the events leading up to the shooting?
