Nathan Rogers, 46, a business owner of the Inland Kava Bar in Coeur d’Alene, was found shot to death inside his Post Falls home on February 23, 2025. Ring camera footage shows a man dressed in black entering the residence around 5 a.m., wandering through the house for hours and later, at about 1:15 p.m., struggling with Rogers when the intruder—then wearing a mask—shot Rogers multiple times. Rogers’ girlfriend discovered the footage while out picking up her daughter and called police.
She identified the man on camera as her ex-boyfriend, Jason M. Rook, 47, and told investigators she had broken up with him in 2023 amid alleged drug use and ongoing harassment. A neighbor’s camera recorded a Jeep leaving the scene; police arrested Rook the next day in Coeur d’Alene, hiding in a vehicle inside a garage. He was charged with first-degree murder and burglary; first-degree stalking and destruction of evidence were later added. Prosecutors have filed notice they intend to seek the death penalty; Rook has pleaded not guilty and his defense has moved to challenge the notice’s constitutionality.
Are there readers who knew Nathan, worked near Inland Kava Bar, or have information that could help clarify the timeline that morning?
