Tiger Hunter Canoy was a 19-year-old from Boise, Idaho, described by family as a responsible young man and a recent high school graduate. On the evening of January 19, 2025, he and his 18-year-old girlfriend, Jillian, drove to an Albertsons parking lot on North Cole Road to meet an acquaintance for a sale of marijuana wax. Three armed men approached their car, robbed them of phones, wallets, identification, and the drugs, and attempted to steal Tiger’s 2011 Chevy Camaro; when he refused to hand over the keys, the robbers slashed a tire and fled.
Tiger followed the suspects’ vehicle to a church parking lot nearby, where 19-year-old Daniel Alaniz-Pineda exited a vehicle and fired two shots into Tiger’s car, striking Tiger in the head and grazing Jillian’s thigh. Both were taken to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center; Tiger died of a gunshot wound to the head on January 20, 2025, and the Ada County Coroner ruled the death a homicide. Officers located the suspects’ vehicle at a Meridian residence and arrested three people within hours: Daniel Alaniz-Pineda, 17-year-old Jordan Castillo, and 15-year-old Miguel Angel-Martinez.
Does anyone have information about the meeting in the Albertsons parking lot or recognize the suspects’ vehicle that could shed light on what led to this robbery?
