Kamari Daquan Taylor, 23, was killed in downtown Fort Wayne in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 13, 2025. Officers found him at about 5:45 a.m. at the intersection of South Monroe and East Wayne Streets suffering from multiple gunshot wounds; paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. The Allen County Coroner’s Office later ruled the death a homicide, the county’s 12th for the year.
Kamari was born November 19, 2001, graduated from Wayne High School in 2020, and was described as someone who loved his family and friends and had a smooth, laid-back sense of humor. Investigators quickly identified 26-year-old Isaiah Wilson as a suspect. Witness accounts and court documents say Kamari was attempting to help Wilson during what witnesses described as a possible mental episode and apparent drug influence when the situation turned fatal. Surveillance footage reportedly shows the gunman chasing Kamari before the shooting, and a warrant was issued for Wilson as armed and dangerous.
Isaiah Wilson was located and taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service in Jackson County, Michigan, on May 14, 2025, and is being held in the Jackson County Jail in connection with Kamari’s murder. If anyone knew Kamari or saw activity near South Monroe and East Wayne Streets on April 13, what information can be shared with investigators?
