A Fort Wayne family is at the center of a deadly family dispute. On March 5, 2025, 23-year-old Taurean Malik Hayden was found dead inside a residence in the 4900 block of Halsley Court after deputies responded to reports about a naked 43-year-old man, identified as Taurean Latheef Hayden, walking through the neighborhood and pointing a handgun at people. Deputies used a Taser to take the elder Hayden into custody; he then told officers he had shot someone inside the home.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office ruled the death a homicide, listing multiple gunshot wounds as the cause. Court documents state the killing appears to have stemmed from a dispute over money. Investigators say the father allegedly admitted to shooting his son in the head and told them he had used a large amount of fentanyl that morning. Surveillance video reportedly shows both men leaving and re-entering the house, with the elder Hayden later seen coming out alone with a handgun. The father was arrested and charged with murder and is being held at the Allen County Jail without bond.
If anyone has information about the events on Halsley Court or knew the Hayden family, please come forward with what was seen or heard that morning.
