Luke Reynolds, 32, was fatally shot in North Hollywood, California, on February 15, 2025. The shooting happened around 1:45 a.m. in front of a business in the 11100 block of Magnolia Boulevard near Lankershim Boulevard. Authorities say Reynolds was involved in a fistfight with multiple people before being shot several times; paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene.
A bystander video shows Reynolds fighting two men in dark clothing near parked cars and landing a punch before being taken to the ground, but the recording does not show the shooting itself. After the shooting, two men left the scene in a vehicle. On February 16, 2025, the LAPD announced the arrest of a 46-year-old suspect, Carlos Meza, taken into custody by the Gang and Narcotics Division with assistance from the FBI and U.S. Marshals Service; authorities have not said where Meza was arrested. Details about the second individual involved in the fight remain unclear as investigators continue to piece together the circumstances that led to the confrontation.
A makeshift memorial with flowers and candles was set up near the scene, and friends described Reynolds as kind and witty with an infectious smile. Anyone who saw the altercation or has information is asked to contact the LAPD’s North Hollywood station or Crime Stoppers.
