Laura Leigh Smith Darley, 33, was killed on February 6, 2025, while working at a convenience store in Quincy, Florida. The shooting was part of a broader attack in which five people were shot and two were killed. The assailant fled the scene and was later seen in Live Oak, Florida, about 12 hours afterward; a police pursuit ended when the suspect crashed, fired on law enforcement injuring a deputy, and was eventually shot and killed by a SWAT team.
Darley’s husband, Jesse Darley, described her as his rock, and a fundraiser was organized to help the family with funeral expenses. Services were held February 14, 2025, at Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home in Bainbridge, Georgia, with interment at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
Anyone who knew Laura, worked with her, or has information about the events in Quincy on February 6 is asked to come forward with what they remember.
