Linda Farzan-Kashani, 54, was fatally shot on the evening of February 5, 2025, in Encino, California. The shooting happened at about 7:25 p.m. in the 5100 block of Hesperia Avenue near Lindley Avenue and Ventura Boulevard. Authorities have ruled her death a homicide.
According to witnesses, Farzan-Kashani and her husband were arguing inside their SUV; she exited the vehicle and was then shot multiple times after her husband allegedly followed her. Her 13-year-old son had been with her while she was visiting the home of Rabbi Bijan Zangan and his wife Natalie; the boy ran to their house screaming for help after the shooting. Neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots, at first mistaking them for construction noise or fireworks. The suspect, identified as her husband, 64-year-old Shaharam Farzan, was arrested shortly after the shooting about two blocks away on Ventura Boulevard and is being held on $3 million bail.
The children are now in the care of their grandparents in Woodland Hills, and a fundraising campaign has been launched with a $300,000 goal. Friends and community members describe this as a devastating loss. If anyone knows Linda, her family, or witnessed the incident, please share any information with investigators.
