Sixteen-year-old Michael Sinyard was shot and killed at a gas station at Highway 138 and Taylor Road in Riverdale, Georgia, on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. In the weeks before his death he had been acting out; his father, Patrick Redeye, had filed a missing person report when Michael could not be found. Riverdale police later notified the family that Michael had been murdered. His father said Michael never even had the chance to drive a car.

Investigators learned that a gas station employee had seen the suspected gunman return to the scene several times and reported that to police. That tip helped identify the suspect and led to a warrant. Shortly after midnight on Friday, January 24, 2025, police arrested 20-year-old Javin Alejandro Fonseca and charged him with malice murder; he is being held at the Clayton County Detention Center. The victim’s father said the alleged killer deserves what he’s going to get.
