On Friday, April 25, 2025, 20-year-old Evan Davon Neal was found outside an apartment in the 200-block of the Somers Cove neighborhood in Crisfield, Maryland, suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers from the Crisfield Police Department arrived at about 4:43 p.m.; emergency medical personnel pronounced Neal dead at the scene. The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit took over the investigation and crime scene technicians from the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division processed the area for evidence.

The following day authorities publicly identified a suspect and an arrest warrant was issued for 28-year-old Tyren Lee Ivey of the Crisfield area on charges including first-degree murder. Officials cautioned that Ivey was to be considered armed and dangerous. After a search lasting more than two months, Ivey was arrested on June 27, 2025, in Seaford, Delaware, and extradited to Maryland; he faces multiple charges in connection with Neal’s death, and the investigation remains active.
