Ovidio Arnoldo Zecena-Mateo, a 31-year-old resident of Laurel, Maryland, was found dead behind a residence in the 1000 block of Marton Street in the early morning of April 1, 2025. What began as a suspicious death was reclassified as a homicide after investigators determined he had been shot; detectives estimate the fatal shooting occurred at about 1:30 a.m.

Laurel Police asked neighbors in the Laurel Hills area to check doorbell and home camera footage for any suspicious activity or speeding vehicles recorded between 12:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on the morning of the killing. Authorities identified a suspect and arrested 19-year-old Noe Manrique Garcia-Umanzor of Temple Hills, Maryland, charging him with first-degree murder and related offenses.

Anyone who saw activity in the neighborhood that night or who has footage from the stated timeframe is asked to come forward with information.
