Steven Lincoln Lombard, 34, a tow truck driver from Merced, California, was last seen December 17, 1993. He left home that morning to pick up his paycheck from RTS Towing and do some Christmas shopping, but a clerical error prevented him from collecting the check and he never returned. He had planned to meet his wife later that day and did not show up.
Lombard’s maroon and white 1965 Ford F-250 was found abandoned in a K-Mart parking lot in south Merced. Investigators noted the truck contained a cup of coffee on the console, keys in the ignition, windows rolled down and doors unlocked—behavior described as out of character. Another RTS Towing driver, Paul Armstrong, disappeared roughly two hours earlier the same day; the men were not close, and no confirmed link has been established, though both cases have been treated as suspicious and potential homicides. Lombard also had a dispute with his boss the day he vanished.
If anyone knew Steven’s movements on December 17, 1993, or remembers seeing his truck that day, please come forward with information.
