A dispute during an evening basketball game in Severn, Maryland, on March 4, 2025, escalated into gunfire that left two men dead. At about 7:00 p.m. in the 8100 block of Meade Village Road, 23-year-old Derrick Purcell Ahmad McDonald was found with gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim, 28-year-old Mack Samuel Galloway III of Glen Burnie, was taken to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center and later died from his injuries.
Two other men were wounded: a 26-year-old hit by a metal fragment and treated at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with non-life-threatening injuries, and a passenger in a vehicle tied to the incident who sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound; the vehicle’s driver was unharmed. Detectives describe the shooting as a targeted attack, collected evidence from the scene and the vehicle, and have interviewed witnesses. Two people from a vehicle stopped soon after the shooting called 911 and are cooperating with investigators. No suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been announced.
If anyone was at the basketball court that night or has information about what led to the confrontation, please come forward.
