A dispute at a Severn basketball court on the evening of March 4, 2025, ended in gunfire that killed two men: 28-year-old Mack Samuel Galloway III of Glen Burnie and 23-year-old Derrick Purcell Ahmad McDonald of Severn. The shooting happened at about 7:00 p.m. in the 8100 block of Meade Village Road. Galloway was found with gunshot wounds and taken to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Two other men suffered non-life-threatening injuries — one hit by metal fragments and another a passenger in a vehicle stopped shortly after the shooting who had a gunshot wound.

Anne Arundel County homicide detectives describe the attack as targeted rather than random and quickly focused on a vehicle seen leaving the scene. Officers stopped that vehicle near Pioneer Drive and Jacobs Road; it contained two males believed to be involved. Those occupants, including the injured passenger, reportedly called 911 within minutes and have been cooperating with investigators. Detectives have interviewed witnesses and processed the scene and the vehicle, and they are working with the county State’s Attorney to determine who fired first and whether others were involved. No arrests or charges have been publicly announced.

Did anyone at the Meade Village Road courts that night see who started the shooting or recognize the vehicle that left the scene?
