Roy Walters was a 57-year-old Black man described by a cousin as loving, polite, sharing, and caring. He was found dead in the Salisbury apartment he shared with his son on the 1100 block of Parsons Road after a welfare check on the afternoon of February 22, 2025. Emergency personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene with apparent gunshot wounds.

Court evidence shows that at 3:58 a.m. on the day of the killing Roy sent a Facebook message to his son demanding payment of his share of rent and expenses or removal from the lease. In response, the son fired seven shots; all struck Roy and he died at the scene. The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit led the investigation.

Investigators identified Roy’s son, 31-year-old Ja’Bril Roynell Walters, as the primary suspect after he fled the apartment. He was also wanted on a July 2024 first-degree assault warrant. A multi-state search followed, with leads taking investigators to North Carolina and Maine before his capture in July 2025. If anyone knew Roy, his household, or movements in Salisbury around February 22, 2025, please share what can help clarify the timeline or motive.
