On the evening of February 3, 2025, around 7:10 p.m., multiple gunshots were reported near Severn Tree Boulevard and Sea Pine Circle in Severn, Maryland. Officers responding to the 1700 block of Sea Pine Circle found 24-year-old Karon Makhai Cann, an African American man from Severn, lying in front of a home with gunshot wounds. First responders provided aid and he was taken to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Homicide Unit opened an active investigation, interviewed several witnesses, and collected evidence at the scene. Investigators described the preliminary evidence as suggesting a targeted incident rather than a random act. As of the latest reports, no suspects have been identified or arrested. A community fundraising effort has raised more than $16,000 to assist Cann’s family with funeral expenses.
