Eddie Shed, 39, was shot and killed on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at about 2:00 p.m. at the Goldin Sports Complex in Gulfport, Mississippi. The shooting occurred during a church-sponsored Easter egg hunt hosted by Empowerment Ministries Christian Center, where Shed served as a deacon and head of security. Authorities say the violence began in a child custody dispute; Shed stepped in to try to de-escalate the situation and was struck by multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene. A second person was also shot and was airlifted to a hospital.
Law enforcement identified 24-year-old Tyran Deion Gable as the suspect; he reportedly was injured during the incident and was taken into custody. He has been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault in connection with the shooting. Friends and church members remembered Shed as a pillar of strength, a beacon of light and hope, and a hero who sacrificed himself protecting others.
