Christopher Lee Voth, 27, died after a violent confrontation at a residence on Courtney Road in Walker, Louisiana, on the night of February 1, 2025. Deputies responded to reports of shots fired at about 10 p.m. and found Voth suffering multiple gunshot wounds; he was taken to a hospital and died a short time later. Investigators reported Voth was unarmed during the incident and that he and his 17-year-old stepson, Ray Habisreitinger, became involved in a physical fight before shots were fired.
Habisreitinger was taken into custody and initially booked on a second-degree murder charge; bond was reported at $250,000 and contemporaneous reporting noted Louisiana law treated him as an adult for the criminal proceeding. The charge listed in later 21st Judicial District court dockets changed to manslaughter under Louisiana Revised Statute 14:31, and court calendars through 2026 continued to show the manslaughter count and Habisreitinger in custody. The docket entries do not establish any final disposition.
Outside the killing, Voth was remembered as a supervisor and heat-treatment technician who enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, grilling, history, and caring for his pet fish. He left behind his wife and a large extended family. Did anyone in the area know Christopher or have information about the events that night?
