A dispute inside the Five Star Gas Station convenience store in Kentwood, Louisiana, on January 29, 2025, ended in gunfire that killed 24-year-old ZyKerien Bickham. The argument involved Bickham and three other people and moved into the gas station parking lot on Third Street. One of the three suspects produced a firearm and shot Bickham multiple times; he died at the scene. Several rounds also struck Bickham’s car while his girlfriend was inside, but she was not physically injured.
Kentwood police identified and arrested two of the group, 17-year-old Tyler Knox and 17-year-old Caleb Santacruze. Knox was charged as principal to second-degree murder, principal to illegal use of a dangerous weapon, and principal to attempted second-degree murder. While in custody, investigators determined neither Knox nor Santacruze was the shooter. Authorities later named 19-year-old Traviun Walton as the suspected gunman and issued an arrest warrant charging him with second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and illegal use of a dangerous weapon. This was Kentwood’s first homicide of 2025 and the second fatal shooting on Third Street in about a month.
If anyone has information about the shooting or saw activity around the Five Star Gas Station that afternoon, please share what is known.
