Late on the night of March 17, 2025, multiple gunshots were reported on Concord Avenue in Amory, Mississippi. Officers who responded to the 1300 block found 19-year-old Jayden Zyshawn Blanchard lying unresponsive in a front yard with several gunshot wounds. First responders transported him to North Mississippi Medical Center Gilmore-Amory; he later died of his injuries.

An officer at the scene encountered another 19-year-old male, Denzarious Devon Wren, who matched the description of a possible suspect and who also had a gunshot wound. He was taken into custody without incident. Investigators recovered a firearm near the scene that is believed to have been used in the fatal shooting, and described the event as a targeted, isolated incident between Wren and Blanchard. Wren was already out on bond from a December 2024 shooting on the same block and was charged with Second Degree Murder; a Justice Court Judge denied bond in this case.
