Reina Magalybantes Castro was found dead from gunshot wounds on April 29, 2025, at the rear of a property on Lancaster Store Road in Spring Hope, North Carolina. Nash County deputies responded to a disturbance call about possible gunshots around 1:50 p.m. and discovered Ms. Castro unresponsive. A man was also injured in the same incident.

Authorities arrested 23-year-old Quantico Nerel Gorham in connection with the shooting. He faces multiple charges including two counts each of kidnapping and assault by pointing a gun. Officials have not disclosed a motive and the investigation is ongoing.
