Nineteen-year-old Jesse O Baptista was shot and killed on the evening of April 29, 2025, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The shooting occurred about 5:45 p.m. near Bloomingdale and Humboldt Avenues; officers found Baptista with apparent gunshot wounds and he was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Investigators described the incident as appearing to be targeted, indicating Baptista was the intended victim.

A student at Shea High School, Baptista was remembered by family as a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. Pawtucket Police identified him publicly in the days after the shooting and have appealed for information.
