Jeannette and Dannette Millbrook were 15-year-old fraternal twins when they vanished in Augusta, Georgia, in the spring of 1990. On March 18 they were doing their usual rounds visiting family. Earlier that day they told their mother that a man in a white van had followed them for part of their walk. Their last confirmed sighting was at a Pump-N-Shop on 12th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, where they bought chips and drinks and behaved normally, according to the clerk who knew them.
When the twins failed to return for dinner their family searched and tried to report them; Louise Sturgis was initially told to wait 24 hours. The case was quickly labeled a runaway matter, a determination the family disputed, and the file was closed just over a year later after officials said the girls had reached 17. The original police file was lost and the twins were removed from the national missing children registry in 1993. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office reopened the investigation in 2013 and the case remains active.
A substantial reward is offered for information that leads to a breakthrough. If anyone knew Jeannette or Dannette, saw them on March 18, 1990, or has information about a white van in the area, please come forward.
