Adam Hakeem Clark, 22, was fatally shot on May 6, 2025, after a confrontation at an apartment on Bomba Street in Barnwell, South Carolina. Clark reportedly arrived at the residence across from a Walmart late that evening seeking to see the toddler he shared with 22-year-old Aubretta Dunbar. Witnesses say a verbal exchange escalated, Clark forced his way in, bypassed Dunbar, and approached 26-year-old Larmarion Williams.
According to reports, Williams produced a firearm and shot Clark as he entered, wounding him in the hip; Clark allegedly advanced, retreated outside, took cover behind a neighboring building, and returned fire, striking Williams in the upper thigh. Both men were taken to Bamberg-Barnwell Emergency Medical Center; Clark was pronounced dead shortly after arrival and Williams was treated for his wound.
Barnwell police and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division recovered shell casings and weapons and are reviewing the evidence. Police Chief Michael Butts said the shooting may be considered self-defense and the 2nd Circuit Solicitor’s Office is reviewing whether charges will be filed. Clark was buried following services at Ned Branch Missionary Baptist Church.
