A Pendleton shooting on May 6, 2025, left 41-year-old Jerrico Roshean Fruster dead. Deputies and medical personnel responded to reports of gunfire on Checkerberry Lane around 4:21 p.m.; Fruster was found with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene at 4:49 p.m. The Anderson County Coroner ruled the death a homicide and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and Pendleton Police Department opened a joint investigation.

Investigators detained a person of interest soon after the shooting, but officials have not released whether that individual was formally arrested or charged. Fruster, born November 2, 1983, is remembered by his family as a loving husband to Wendy M. Fruster and father to four children: Jamiyah, Ja'leigha, Braelynn, and Malachi. His funeral was held May 19, 2025, at Abel Baptist Church in Clemson.
