Linny Nixon IV, an 18-year-old from Beaumont, Texas, was shot and killed on April 28, 2025, at the Landmark Apartments on French Road. He was found outside his apartment, taken to CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital, and died of his injuries. Law enforcement describes the shooting as premeditated; investigators say Trevor Green admitted he planned to steal Nixon’s firearm and shot Nixon inside the apartment with the victim’s handgun. Green left the scene with John Jones, handed the gun to Jones, and Jones left with it.

Both 17-year-old suspects surrendered on April 29 and were indicted for murder by a Jefferson County grand jury. Surveillance footage and witness accounts place Jones leaving the complex; witnesses also reported seeing a male in a black t-shirt and jeans fleeing. Bonds were set at $850,000 for Green and $800,000 plus $6,000 for Jones, with conditions including GPS monitoring, home confinement, and no contact with Nixon’s family if released on bond.

Known as Lil’ Linny, Nixon was born June 8, 2006, graduated from Parkerson Stem Academy, enjoyed fishing and sports, and is survived by his son Calix Jackson and an unborn child, Linnox Jrue Nixon, along with his parents and extended family. Funeral services were scheduled for May 10, 2025, at Comeaux-Community Mortuary & Cremations with burial at Greenlawn Cemetery. If anyone has information about the shooting or saw activity at Landmark Apartments that evening, please come forward.
