Sixteen-year-old Darell Dasean Love Jr., a Beaver Falls High School sophomore who planned to begin a welding program, was shot in his family home on 13th Street on the evening of December 18, 2024. Shortly before 10 p.m., his mother heard a loud bang; Darell entered her bedroom bleeding from a gunshot wound to the head. He identified a friend, 16-year-old Eric Krassman Jr., as the shooter before dying at Allegheny General Hospital.
A semiautomatic handgun was left in the living room and Krassman fled the scene. A warrant charging him with criminal homicide and possession of a firearm by a minor described him as armed and dangerous; the City of Beaver Falls Police Department announced his arrest on December 23, 2024. Reports later say multiple people were charged with hindering Krassman’s apprehension, including Eric Krassman Sr., Stevie Jo Canakes, Kevin Goode Jr., Paige Goode, Sandra Mccullough, Payge Murphy, and Eric Walker. The motive for the shooting has not been reported.
If anyone knew Darell, his movements that night, or has information about who assisted the suspect’s escape, please share what you know.
