A Jackson police homicide investigation centers on the shooting death of 25-year-old Quenteraqus Mckinnie. In the late morning of Thursday, February 20, 2025, a witness found Mckinnie lying on the ground next to a vacant house in the 100 block of Conger Street; he had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. Mckinnie was a Black man and a 2018 graduate of Bolivar High School who worked at a local restaurant.
Investigators identified a suspect within days. On Monday, February 24, 2025, at about 10 a.m., a 17-year-old male was taken into custody and faces a charge of First Degree Murder; the case is proceeding in Juvenile Court in Madison County. Authorities have not released a motive or the circumstances that led to the shooting as the investigation continues.
Did anyone in Jackson know Quenteraqus, his routines, or have information about activity near Conger Street that morning?
