A targeted shooting on the early morning of Thursday, December 19, 2024, left 38-year-old Ernest James Glenn II dead in Knoxville, Tennessee. Officers responding to a gunshot call at the North Hills Apartments around 3:40 a.m. found Glenn’s vehicle crashed into a fence in the 2900 block of Washington Pike; he was unresponsive inside with at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second man, 45-year-old Edmond Slone, was located at the apartment complex after reportedly fleeing the vehicle for help; he was taken to the UT Medical Center with critical but stable injuries. Investigators concluded the shooting was not random but targeted. Warrants identify 21-year-old Kevin Martinez as the primary suspect, alleging he opened the car door and fired at both men over a dispute about a cell phone that belonged to Martinez’s brother and was later found in Glenn’s vehicle.
Martinez was arrested in Nashville while attempting to board a Greyhound bus and was extradited back to Knox County to face first-degree murder and aggravated assault charges. Does anyone have information about Glenn, Slone, or the circumstances that led to this dispute?
