A party on 25th Avenue Court East in Spanaway turned deadly in the early hours of March 29, 2025. What began as a gathering of dozens drew noise complaints and then, shortly after midnight, a street fight that escalated into gunfire. Shell casings were left scattered as people ran for cover.
Nineteen-year-old Hispanic male Hector Gonzalez Valdez was shot in the chest and taken to a local hospital, where he died after emergency surgery. The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death a homicide. Another victim, a 15-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene and several others were injured and transported to hospitals.
Investigators say surveillance video showed a 17-year-old, Isaiah Williams, speaking with the two victims before gunfire began; Williams was reportedly seen drawing a handgun and firing, and was also wounded when Valdez apparently returned fire. An 18-year-old, Christopher Cobb, was later charged with first-degree assault after video allegedly showed him firing a weapon. Reports indicate a dispute and a fight occurred immediately before the shooting.
If anyone at the party or nearby that night has information about how the altercation started or additional footage, please come forward.
