In the early morning hours of Saturday, February 1, 2025, 35-year-old Mark Falealii was shot and killed outside his Renton, Washington, home while trying to stop at least two people from stealing his silver Kia. According to family, he grabbed onto the moving vehicle to prevent the theft when one of the suspects shot him in the neck; officers and his younger brother, Filemoni Falealii, were on scene as attempts to revive him were made but unsuccessful. The suspects fled in the stolen Kia.

Investigators believe the same individuals had been prowling and breaking into several other vehicles in the neighborhood earlier that night. Police later recovered Falealii’s Kia about half a mile from the shooting and an abandoned stolen blue sedan at the entrance to Cascade Park; both cars are being examined for evidence. No arrests had been announced as of early February 2025, and the Renton Police Department asked residents near the crime and recovery sites to check security cameras for footage from about 3:15 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. A $1,000 reward has been offered for information leading to identification and arrest.

Mark is remembered as a loving husband and father to two young children. Does anyone in the Renton area have camera footage or information that could help investigators bring those responsible to justice?
