Shaquana Deborah Jordan, 30, was shot and killed on February 5, 2025, at the Churchland Square Apartments in Portsmouth, Virginia. She was found on a porch with gunshot wounds to her arm and side and later died at a local hospital. Shaquana was five weeks pregnant and the mother of two young sons, ages 2 and 7, who were in the home during the shooting; her 7-year-old placed a 911 call saying his father had shot his mother.

Police identified Shaquana’s husband, Hasheed Mills, as the suspect. Surveillance footage reportedly shows an altercation between the couple shortly before the shooting; Mills fled the scene in a vehicle, leaving the children unattended, and was later arrested in Hampton. He has been charged with aggravated murder of a pregnant woman, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, shooting in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a felon, and abuse and neglect of a child.

Family say Shaquana had been trying to leave the relationship. Court records cited in the case show prior domestic violence charges against Mills and an earlier alleged threat to kill her. Any readers who knew Shaquana or have information about the case are asked to come forward.
