On March 6, 2025, 22-year-old Malron Murray was shot at an apartment complex in the 200 block of East I-30 Highway in Garland, Texas. Garland police arrived just after 2 a.m. and found Murray with a gunshot wound; he was taken to a local hospital and later died from his injuries.

Investigators say Murray had been in a disturbance earlier that day with 24-year-old Shango T. Knight of Dallas. Authorities allege that the earlier altercation escalated and that Knight shot Murray. A murder warrant was issued and Knight was arrested by law enforcement, including the U.S. Marshals Violent Task Force, on March 11, 2025; he is being held at the Garland Detention Center on a murder charge with bond set at $1.5 million. The investigation remains ongoing.
