Tammy Amerson King, a 61-year-old grandmother from Bacliff, Texas, was found dead in her home after a welfare check; officials say she suffered a fatal gunshot wound. Her residence had been ransacked, firearms were missing from bedroom safes, and her purse was emptied. Neighbors told investigators they had not heard from King since the previous Tuesday.

Investigators identified two primary suspects: King’s 17-year-old granddaughter, Tara King, and Tara’s 18-year-old boyfriend, Uriah Urick. Both were first named persons of interest and later charged with capital murder. Court documents say a witness was at the house on the night of February 4 with Tammy, Tara and Urick, and that Tammy and Tara argued the next day over Tara’s reluctance to attend school. The medical examiner determined Tammy King died in the early hours of February 5.

Authorities arrested the teens in Laredo four days after the death and later charged 35-year-old Travis Hodge with allegedly driving them while they fled; Hodge was found during a traffic stop with methamphetamine, stolen firearms and other evidence and faces charges including hindering apprehension and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Does anyone have information about Tammy, her routine in Bacliff, or the people involved that could help investigators?
