Shariea Lefern Johnson Patton, 56, was found dead in January 1981 when her body washed ashore near the Naval Net Depot in Tiburon, California. She was a Bay Area resident who had been looking for work. The body was discovered in two plastic bags on the rocky shore of San Francisco Bay and showed ligature marks; she had been bound in a fetal position with two pairs of pantyhose and investigators determined she had been strangled.
Joseph Naso, who managed the residence where Patton had lived and had taken a photograph of her, was a prime suspect soon after her death. He gave elusive answers to investigators and no charges were filed at the time. Decades later prosecutors presented Patton as a possible additional victim during Naso’s murder trial, citing similarities between her death and other asphyxia-by-strangulation killings linked to him, but she was never formally charged as one of his murders because her investigation was not completed before the trial.
Are there anyone who knew Shariea Patton, lived near Tiburon in 1981, or has information that could help clarify what happened to her?
