Warren H. Fulton III was 22 when he and his girlfriend, 22-year-old Rachael A. Raver, were found dead on December 6, 1988 in a secluded, wooded area near Reston, Virginia. The couple had been last seen leaving a sports bar in Washington, D.C., shortly after midnight on December 4 and were due to attend church with Fulton’s parents the morning they were discovered. Fulton was a senior and captain of the George Washington University baseball team; Raver was a recent GWU graduate.
The case grew cold until a 2005 DNA match linked evidence from the scene to Alfredo R. Prieto, then on death row in California for an unrelated 1990 rape and murder. Prieto was extradited to Virginia and convicted by a Fairfax County jury in 2007 of capital murder, rape and other felonies in the deaths of Fulton and Raver; prosecution evidence stated Fulton was shot in the back while on his knees and that Raver was shot and raped as she lay dying. After multiple trials and sentencing phases, a jury again recommended death in 2010. Prieto was also linked to other homicides.
Does anyone remember the couple’s last known movements in Washington, D.C., around December 4, 1988, or have information about the sports bar they left that night?
