On March 23, 1997, three employees at a McDonald’s in Hermitage, Tennessee, were killed after being forced back into the restaurant at gunpoint following closing. Robert Allen Sewell Jr., 23, was among those led to a back room while the assailant took more than $2,000 from the safe. The attacker then forced the employees into a storage area and opened fire; Sewell, 17-year-old Andrea Brown, and 27-year-old Ronald Santiago were fatally shot.

A fourth employee, Jose Gonzalez, survived by feigning death after the killer’s gun jammed and the assailant stabbed him repeatedly. Gonzalez escaped and became the sole eyewitness. Investigators connected this attack to other fast-food robberies and murders in the Nashville area, later calling them the Fast Food Murders. Fingerprint evidence and Gonzalez’s identification led to the arrest of Paul Dennis Reid Jr., who was tried and convicted in connection with these killings.

Did anyone work at or visit the Hermitage McDonald’s that night who has additional details about what happened before the employees left?
