Debra Smith Taylor was 24 and from Griswold, Connecticut when she disappeared on June 15, 1982. She and her husband had run out of gas near Danielson and split up to look for help; Debra never returned. Four months later a jogger found her skeletal remains in a wooded area, and an investigation into her death was opened but eventually grew cold.

Years later Michael Bruce Ross confessed to abducting, raping, and strangling Debra after encountering her walking alone on the roadside. Ross was convicted of multiple murders, including Debra’s, and on June 5, 1987 was sentenced to a combined 120 years for Debra and another victim. Ross was executed by lethal injection on May 13, 2005.
