Steven Kennedy, 27, was shot and killed the evening of Thursday, September 4, 2025, in Selma, Alabama. Police were called to the 1800 block of Hinson Alley about 8:30 p.m. and found Kennedy with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say Kennedy had run from the GWC Homes area across the street toward St. Ann Street in the Hinson Alley vicinity before he was killed. Authorities believe the shooting may be connected to ongoing retaliatory violence between families in the area, a pattern that has concerned law enforcement in Dallas County.

CrimeStoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, and the case remains unsolved. A graveside service for Kennedy was held September 20, 2025. If anyone was in the GWC Homes or Hinson Alley area that night and saw or heard anything, please come forward with information.
