Millard Jerry Anderson, 69, was found dead in his camper on Brothers Road in Asbury, Marshall County, Alabama, on the morning of July 8, 2025. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office determined he died of a gunshot wound and opened the case as a homicide.

Investigators identified 28-year-old Rafael Comacho, Jr. as a person of interest after he was taken into custody on an unrelated gun charge; Comacho was a convicted felon on probation and therefore prohibited from possessing firearms. Within days he was charged with Anderson’s murder. Neighbors and family said tensions had been rising between the men, including an earlier incident in which Comacho’s pit bull killed Anderson’s dog. Neighbors reported seeing Comacho with a shotgun and hearing verbal confrontations in the weeks before the shooting.

A search of Comacho’s nearby residence turned up a handgun and a shotgun with what appeared to be reddish-brown stains. Court records say Comacho denied ownership of the guns but admitted firing the shotgun behind his home the day before the killing and admitted being at Anderson’s home the night of the death, saying he was there to smoke with him. Comacho is being held in the Marshall County Jail without bond.

Does anyone in the Asbury area have information about the dispute between Anderson and Comacho or about activity on Brothers Road around July 8?
