A road rage confrontation in Tempe ended in the death of 29-year-old Steven Bevan on July 1, 2025. Bevan was driving a Dodge Challenger with his two young sons, aged eight and nine, when a dispute with a black GMC Sierra driven by 46-year-old Dustin Jackson escalated over several blocks near Priest Drive and Warner Road. Bevan stopped his car at a red light, exited unarmed and walked to the driver’s side of Jackson’s truck. From inside the pickup, Jackson fired one shot that struck Bevan in the chest. One of Bevan’s sons partially recorded the incident on video.
No weapons were found on Bevan or in his vehicle. Emergency services arrived about 12:15 p.m.; Bevan was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. Jackson remained at the scene and was arrested; he told investigators he feared for his and his daughter’s safety and said Bevan reached toward his back before the shot was fired. A Maricopa County grand jury later declined to indict Jackson on homicide and weapons charges but returned indictments for possession or use of narcotic drugs and possession or use of drug paraphernalia reportedly found in his truck.
Does anyone have information about the events near Priest Drive and Warner Road that afternoon?
