Shawn Christian Watson, 38, was found dead in his bed at his West Main Street home in Ariton, Alabama, after deputies answered a 911 call shortly after 2:30 a.m. on June 14, 2025. One of the five children who lived in the house reported hearing gunshots; Watson was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound.

Investigators arrested Watson’s 42-year-old wife, Annie Huffstutler, and booked her into the Dale County Jail on a murder charge. Authorities say they believe Huffstutler shot Watson while he was sleeping. The children heard the shots but did not witness the shooting. No motive has been released. The sheriff described the incident as a tragic event for the family and arranged for local social services to provide assistance and grief counseling.

Watson, also known as Dragon, was remembered in an obituary as a beloved father, son, and brother who enjoyed the outdoors, martial arts, old movies, and gardening. Does anyone have information about Shawn or the family that could help clarify what happened that night?
