Pandora Kjolsrud, 18, and her 17-year-old friend Evan Clark were found shot to death after a Memorial Day weekend camping trip near Mount Ord in Tonto National Forest. The two Arcadia High School students failed to return as scheduled on May 26, 2025; their bodies were discovered the next day on May 27, 2025. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office treated the deaths as a homicide investigation.

Investigators followed reports from other campers who said they encountered a man acting strangely in the Mount Ord area that weekend. A man later identified as 31-year-old Thomas Brown told detectives he had been camping on Mount Ord from May 23 to May 26, saw a young male and female matching the victims’ descriptions, and admitted rummaging through their campsite but denied physical contact. Forensic testing tied Brown to the scene: his DNA was found inside the victims’ vehicle and on bloody gloves recovered at the campsite. He was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder and held on $2 million bond.

What information might other campers or locals from that Memorial Day weekend still have that could help clarify what happened to Pandora and Evan?
