Robert William Abeyta Jr., 43, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of September 2, 2025, on the 3800 block of San Pablo Avenue in Emeryville. Police were called about 1:12 a.m. for reports of gunfire and found a male victim who was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead; the Alameda County Coroner later identified him as Abeyta, whose last known address was in Oakland.
Investigators say the violence followed a verbal argument that escalated into gunfire near a corner market. Portions of the encounter were captured on nearby surveillance cameras, and several witnesses were present. Authorities report that Abeyta and Armand Watson, 52, of Oakland, argued in front of the market shortly before a Honda Accord driven by Isaac Landry, 51, of Rodeo, arrived; moments later shots were fired. Some involved tried to flee by vehicle but were intercepted and arrested with assistance from UC Berkeley police. Prosecutors filed murder charges against Watson and Landry in what was Emeryville’s first homicide of the year.
Does anyone who knew Robert or who was in that corridor that night have information that could help clarify what happened?
