Tyrone Howard, 21, was shot on September 7, 2025, in St. Petersburg, Florida, and later died at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital. The shooting was discovered near the 2900 block of Emerson Avenue South shortly before a car he was driving crashed into a parked vehicle outside Robco Transmission & Auto at 3101 Emerson Avenue South shortly after 2 p.m. A one-year-old girl in the back seat was not physically injured and was evaluated as a precaution at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital.

Detectives opened a homicide investigation the same day, canvassing the area and reviewing nearby surveillance footage while asking the public for information. Early reports described the sequence as a shooting that preceded the crash, and investigators were working to determine precisely where the gunfire occurred relative to the collision outside the auto shop.
