Melvin Victor was killed on his 30th birthday. Shortly after midnight on August 20, 2025, gunfire erupted in the courtyard and parking lot of an apartment complex near Northeast 169th Street and 20th Avenue. More than two dozen rounds struck the area, shattering car windows and leaving shell casings across the asphalt. First responders rushed Victor to a hospital, but he was pronounced dead there; relatives who had been celebrating with cake gathered in the same complex in the shocked hours afterward.
Family described Victor as a dependable son and brother who worked for the City of North Miami Beach, with his workplace located just across the street from where he was shot. Investigators canvassed the scene and collected evidence; police said no clear motive had been announced. By August 29, Jamoree Ahmad Pitts was arrested and booked on first-degree murder and related charges. On or before September 2, authorities also took into custody Trayquan Williams and Antoine Leonard Eleby Jr., each facing multiple counts including first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, and Eileen Garcia, charged as an accessory after the fact.
Did anyone who knew Melvin or who was in that apartment complex the night of August 20 see something that could help fill in what happened?
